To celebrate the reopening of Duddell’s, a renowned cultural and culinary hub in Hong Kong, after a redesign by Andre Fu Studio, the restaurant will host a new solo exhibition titled ‘Let’s Start Over’ by internationally acclaimed Vietnamese-Danish artist Danh Võ.
Curated by William Zhao, the exhibition’s title is inspired by a classic line from the film ‘Happy Together’, perfectly reflecting Duddell’s own fresh start. The exhibition will run from September 17, 2025, to April 6, 2026.
This new exhibition offers a profound exploration of identity, memory, and heritage, while also serving as a retrospective of Võ’s artistic practice since his first show at Duddell’s a decade ago. Celebrated for his breakthrough at the 2015 Venice Biennale, Võ masterfully reconfigures everyday objects, religious relics, and family archives into subtle yet powerful works. These pieces do not make grand gestures but invite viewers to find personal and collective meaning in transformed materials.
A signature element of Võ’s work is a series of gold-leaf cardboard pieces, which exemplify his approach of turning the ordinary into the sacred. In doing so, he challenges conventional ideas of value and materiality. This exhibition is a forward-looking dialogue that encourages visitors to engage with the quiet power of objects and the rich histories they carry, adding a fresh perspective to the culinary art and creative dialogue for which Duddell’s is known.
