Recently, Dangbei launched the Dangbei N2 mini, adding an affordable yet feature-rich option to its product lineup. The Dangbei N2 mini is currently one of the smallest projectors from the brand, weighing less than 3.8 pounds and standing at about 9.5 inches tall. It incorporates Dangbei’s proprietary AI-driven InstanPro technology.
Unlike other Dangbei projection devices, the N2 mini runs on a smart operating system based on Linux, which may help maintain its affordable price, as using Google’s Android TV would incur expensive licensing fees. The Linux operating system is user-friendly and visually appealing, and it comes pre-installed with officially licensed applications, including Netflix, Prime Video, and YouTube. Dedicated buttons on the projector’s remote control allow for one-click access to these apps. Additionally, Dangbei states that there are over 300 extra applications available for download on the device.
The main body of the N2 mini, which is the actual projector, is mounted on a stand that doubles as a gimbal, providing users with 190° of built-in tilt options, including ceiling projection. Simplicity is a recurring theme with the N2, and the gimbal is operated by gently pushing it in the desired direction; there is no locking mechanism, as it simply holds itself in place.
The Dangbei N2 mini showcases native 1080p visuals, projecting images ranging from 40 to 120 inches, and boasts a maximum brightness of 200 lumens. While this brightness may not seem impressive on paper, the projector performs remarkably well in daylight and excels in smaller, dimly lit spaces—think evenings and rooms with closed curtains. Additionally, the integrated InstanPro technology allows the mini to automatically resize and straighten the image, ensuring optimal viewing, while also providing features like automatic focusing and keystone correction.
In terms of connectivity, the N2 mini includes both Bluetooth 5.2 and Wi-Fi 6 options, with input ports comprising one HDMI and one USB-A 2.0. It also features a 3.5mm audio output, enabling users to connect headphones or wired speakers if the built-in six-watt speakers are insufficient. Surprisingly, despite its modest audio capabilities, the N2 mini supports Dolby Audio, Dolby Digital, and Dolby Digital Plus.
