Vacheron Constantin has launched the Métiers d’Art Tribute to the Celestial series, featuring a total of 12 pieces. This theme blends the luxury of timepieces with the artistry of the twelve zodiac signs, continuing Vacheron Constantin’s artistic tradition centered around celestial themes—where timekeeping becomes a poetic expression of the cosmos.
The dials are crafted through a complex eight-step process that begins with sunburst finishing and constellation mapping. This is followed by guilloché engraving, diamond setting, and the application of the Maison’s Maltese Cross emblem. Each zodiac representation requires about 16 hours of meticulous guilloché work—a figurative technique developed in-house that transforms geometric engraving into expressive celestial imagery. The signs representing human figures—Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Aquarius—feature subtle opaline accents that enhance the visual depth of their shapes.
At the core of each watch is the ultra-thin self-winding Calibre 2160 tourbillon movement, which operates at 18,000 vibrations per hour and has an 80-hour power reserve. Its 22K gold peripheral rotor provides an unobstructed view of the refined finishing of the movement. Details such as hand-bevelled bridges, Côtes de Genève decoration, and a Maltese Cross-shaped tourbillon cage highlight the brand’s commitment to both mechanical and aesthetic excellence.
