Following the tragic deaths of 10 people at Astroworld last month, Travis Scott has faced severe backlash. The latest decision impacting on Scott’s career sees him removed from the Coachella lineup. The decision comes not long after the incident, when a petition was launched on Change.org to have his set cancelled. The petition now has more than 60,000 signatures.
The crowd rush, which occurred during Scott’s performance at Astroworld in November has been said to be the result of a lack of crowd management however much to the disgust of onlookers globally, Scott failed to address the surge at the time.
Following the performance, which Drake also featured in, Travis Scott’s seemingly showed little remorse to the death of fans (one as young as 10) and severe injuries to hundred more. In a quick video shared to his Instagram story he sent his condolences and reminded people to “keep (their) prayers”.
Drake and Travis Scott have reportedly been sued by a number of lawsuits for over $750 million. Many of the families feel that his reaction did not reflect the severity of the situation and the detriment of the lives lost .
Travis Scott was announced to headline Coachella nearly two years ago back in January 2020. Since the recent news that Scott has been cancelled by the festival, it was reported that he offered to perform for free. Despite this it seems that Coachella will hold their original stance, denying Travis Scott of a return to their stage in the near future.
