Zaha Hadid Architects are creating China’s latest Science & Technology Museum in its Guangming Science City, the aim of the project is to explore the “solidity and dynamic curvilinear geometries” of the city’s urban circulation routes.
The new museum will work with various universities, schools, and institutions across the Asian country while bringing Shenzhen’s reputation as an epicenter of technological innovation. The building will have a U-shaped designed atrium courtyard in the center surrounded by numerous educational and public spaces for exhibitions and galleries, all of which span across 125,000 square feet.
The building is to blend into the natural landscapes of Guangming Park. With the projects aim placed on energy performance, air quality, wind flow and natural lighting, the museum also hopes to become a sustainable model that the rest of the region can build on.
The museum is scheduled to be completed by 2023.
