The LiveHaus x ImJustSneakz Collab

Earlier this month, we had the pleasure of collaborating with Aaron Mall from imjustsneakz. We announced a Nike Air Jordan Mid 1 sneaker giveaway which was popular to say the least! Aaron’s business specialises in sourcing and supplying rare and exclusive sneakers. Don’t see a pair of sneakers on his page that you want? Not to worry! Send over a picture of the pair you want along with your size and imjustsneakz can source it for you.

We interviewed Aaron and asked several questions regarding his story, styling process and his personal favourite sneaker trends! Here’s what Aaron had to say.

What’s your story, how did you get into the sneaker game?
I think I’m just like the majority of people, when growing up we really didn’t have a so called collection of trainers just those one or two pairs that would be used day in day out and that was the case for many years but on the odd occasion I’d treat myself on my birthday to a fresh pair of Air Force 1’s you know everyone has to have those in their rotation without fail.

Growing up with a big brother who was always into the latest fashion trends didn’t help either I’d see him bring back bags full of new clothes and at least a new pair of trainers every week.

I’d say as soon as got to university everything changed for me my sense of style and my love for trainers really developed, this was back in 2014 other people would be buying books to study for university and I’d be spending it on trainers clearly had my priorities the right way round, you’ll be happy to know that I did graduate with honours haha.

In recent years I’ve just been entering various online raffles for exclusives sneakers  I’d say at least 10/20 websites per drop with multiple entries on each site in the hope that I’d hit on an exclusive pair. Quickly trainers became a passion of mine I believe footwear is the key element to completing an outfit.

Prior to lockdown I’d been networking with several people who are already in the industry, having seen my passion and enthusiasm for wanting to provide such services they pointed me in the right direction.

This wasn’t done over night though it took me months to put myself in this position. I thought with the whole pandemic putting a downer on the year, that I wanted to launch within 2020 to feel some sense of achievement and at the start of the month imjustsneakz launched.

How do you stay up to date regarding fashion and style?
Staying up to date with fashion trends isn’t hard nowadays especially in the world of social media e.g. following the right Instagram accounts to keep you up to date, everyone loves a good online shop so it’s just about knowing the correct websites for your sense of style whether that be high street fashion or designer.

If you had to pick 3 favourites from your collection what would it be?
This is a tricky question as I have so many in my collection but if I had to choose I’d say:

  1. 1. Off White x Nike Jordan 4 “Sail” box fresh I’m scared to wear them but when the time is right they’ll make an appearance.
  2. 2. Yeezy 700 Inertia, everyone who knows me these are my favourite yeezy out of my collection, hands down the best colour way they’ve done in the 700 style.
    3. Air Jordan 1 Mid “Chicago” imitating one of the best Jordan 1 colourways of all time paying homage to the jordan 1 “bred”. I think 2020 has been the year of the mids, so many variations have dropped throughout the year.

Is there a particular style/sneaker trend you would like to see disappear?
I was a big fan of the Yeezy 350 releases but in recent years it’s gone overboard virtually every week a new colourway is being released, I understand Kanye’s way of thinking in terms of making sure everyone has a pair but with so many releases personally I believe it’s a sneaker trend that needs to be put to bed.

What do you think about the increase of the sneaker hype?
I’m all for the increase in the sneaker hype, who doesn’t love a new pair added to their rotation but in terms of the rise I think Kanye and adidas play a major part in the increase of the sneaker hype with the yeezy brand, however collaborations from Off White x Nike and Air Jordan x Travis Scott have all been successful collaborations and because they are known to do so well everyone wants to get their hands on them.

What is the craziest thing you would do just to get a pair of shoes that you love?
I would probably camp over night just so I can get a good spot in a queue for a release, I remember back in 2018 when the Off White x Jordan 1 UNC Blue released I had to be somewhere else on release day and I wanted them so bad in my personal collection that I paid a friend of mine go to London to try and cop me a pair.

How would you know if that particular shoe is exclusive?
It’s not really hard to find out if a shoe is exclusive anymore with everything being on the internet, i take the same approach e.g follow the right Instagram pages, browse certain websites with release info & the biggest way to find out is seeing how people in the sneaker community react to an upcoming release because 9/10 it’s going to be talked about, this way you’ll get a some good information around a release.

What makes you different from any other sneaker personal shopper and how can people get in contact with you?
I believe what makes us different from other sneaker personal shoppers is that at imjustsneakz we take our time out to listen to our customers needs and put them at the forefront of everything that we do keeping them up to date throughout the whole process e.g daily communication from purchasing a pair of sneakers to them receiving the delivery of the item this helps them build confidence in our services and furthermore a level of trust from which they know they are in good hands and come back to us for future purchases.
