PlayStation 5 Launch Day Will Not Be In-Store

With the Playstation 5 launch day is nearly here, but Sony has now announced there will be no in-store consoles available at any regional launch. The consoles will be available exclusively online through Sony’s retail partners.

Sony recently explained in a statement that the decision was made in order to keep employees and customers safe throughout the coronavirus pandemic. Sony’s Senior Director told fans “Please don’t plan on camping out or lining up at your local retailer on launch day in hopes of finding a PS5 console for purchase,”

People who have already placed a pre-order for pickup should still be able to receive their console, and Sony will soon be confirming safety protocols and other details with their respective retailers.

Update: All PS5 console sales on launch day, November 12 or November 19 depending on your region, will be online-only. No units will be available in-store for purchase.
