The CEO of Tesla has recently announced a price increase for the Full Self-Driving package, this now bring the package up to $10,000 which is a $2,000 increase. Elon announced the change due the driving package now being in the beta stages and will be rolled out in a limited release.
The price for the package option has been steadily increasing over time. The package initially started at $5,000 and was increased to $6,000 in May last year. It was then raised to $7,000 in November 2019.
As it stands, the package it currently being offered as an optional add-on to Teslas’s Autopilot feature. This FSD package isn’t completely autonomous, it still requires human supervision and intervention at times, therefore it’s not exactly was the automotive industry have been chasing. This leaves the feature to be considered within the Level 2 self-driving group.
Elon announced the price increase in response to the launch of the Full Self-Driving beta to a select group of customers.
Now that Tesla FSD beta is out in limited release, FSD price (new or upgrade) will go up by ~$2k on Monday
