The New Mercedes-Benz That Can Tackle Any Terrain

Mercedes Benz has revealed a new concept which is like no other. This EQC crossover has been given the 4×4² treatment. It has everything you could want, from presence, proportions to power. The Mercedes-Benz EQC 4×4² is capable of tackling the most challenging off-road tasks and terrains. It also sits 20cm taller than the original model.

The electric SUV prototype was created by a small team headed by Jürgen Eberle, a Mercedes-Benz development engineer. Eberle said:

“Despite the trend towards electric vehicles right now, there remains great enthusiasm for traditional off-roaders. Our aim was to combine these two with a car that provides the best of both worlds – fully electric but with the ability to go off road in a serious way.”

The new model is also 58mm taller than a standard G-class, thanks to the new reworked suspension. New wheels have also been fitted in order to make the vehicle more functional as well as widening the car by 20mm. The ECQ 4×4² has suspension systems set up especially for off-roading, this includes the vehicle being able to go fording at depths of 40cm.

Lastly, the new model has been given a custom acoustic system inside and out. The headlights now double as loudspeakers, which even play on information taken from the accelerator pedal and speed.

The Test Drive
The test took place in a large quarry that had been turned into an off-road park with deep sand, muddy patches, rocky tracks, steep inclines and water crossings. So in other words, the last place you’d see a leather-lined EV. But that’s simply the beauty of this model.

Unfortunately, this still remains just a concept, for now.
