Honda Announces Exit From Formula 1 After 2021 Season

After the 2021 season, Japanese car manufacturer Honda announced that it will be leaving formula 1.

The news came as a surprise for several fans of F1, when the car manufacturer revealed its goal and its current plan for allocating resources for carbon neutrality by 2050. “Honda must divert its corportal research and development resources to the fields of future power units and energy technologies, which will be the core of carbon-free technologies, including fuel cell vehicles (FCV) and battery EV technologies (BEV),” said the company in a statement.

Honda currently provides both Red Bull Racing and its Scuderia AlphaTauri sister team with motors — or more specific power units.
