Google has just released an improved version of its Live View feature in the Google Maps app, improving the overall augmented reality experience with enhanced features.
The news was released in a recent blog post in which the tech giant revealed a range of changes that will make consumers even more relaxed, with the most significant improvement being the landmark recognition that will help you orient yourself to them.
You will soon be able to see the nearby landmarks, too, so that you can quickly and easily orient yourself and understand your surroundings, writes the company.
Live View will show you how far away some of the landmarks are from you, and how far you need to go to get there. These landmarks can include emblematic places such as the Empire State Building in New York and the Pantheon in Rome, and easily identifiable places such as local parks and tourist attractions.
Aside from landmarks, both Android and Apple iOS users can both receive Live View in Location Sharing “soon,” a feature that Google launched earlier last month for its own Pixel users. As simple as the name suggests, this feature allows you to open Live View and see how far away a friend is when they share a place with you, providing you with overlaid arrows and directions to help you navigate your way there.
The latest features will soon be released in 25 cities around the world, including Amsterdam, Bangkok, Barcelona, Berlin, Budapest, Dubai, Florence, Istanbul, Kuala Lumpur, Kyoto, London, Los Angeles, Madrid, Milan, Munich, New York, Osaka, Paris, Prague, Rome, San Francisco, Sydney, Tokyo and Vienna.
