At the beginning of this year, Dwayne Johnson announced a new NBC autobiographical comedy called Young Rock, and now Hollywood’s top-paid actor has confirmed the cast members who will be part of the upcoming season.
Most importantly, three separate actors would play Johnson at three of his most formative ages, from 10 to 20 years of age. Adrian Groulx will play The Rock at the age of 10, Bradley Constant at the age of 15, and Marco Polo’s Uli Latukefu will play Johnson at the age of 18 and 20. As for his family, Ana Tuisila plays Johnson’s grandma, Stacey Leilua plays Ata Johnson’s girlfriend, and Joseph Lee Anderson plays Rocky Johnson’s late father.
In addition to the casting announcement, Johnson also penned a special note in remembrance of his father , who died earlier this year, dedicating the pilot episode of the show to him. “As you guys know my dad passed away earlier this year, so this role is special and our first episode is dedicated to him,” Johnson writes. “My dad was a real trail blazer and he smashed colour lines all over our country in the 60s , 70s, and 80s. One-half of the first black tag team champions (with Tony Atlas) my pops were a bad guy in the game. I miss him, man.
There’s currently no release date for Young Rock, so those interested should stay tuned and check @therock on instagram for more updates to come.
