The President of the United States and the First Lady Donald and Melania Trump tested positive for COVID-19.
@TheRealDonaldTrump confirmed the news via Twitter, writing,
“Tonight, @FLOTUS and I were tested positive for COVID-19. We will immediately begin our quarantine and recovery process. We’re going to get through this TOGETHER!”
The pair was screened after close Presidential Advisor Hope Hicks tested positive for coronavirus.
She has flown many times this week with President Trump on Air Force One, including his flight to Cleveland for discussion. “The President and First Lady are both well at this time, and they plan to stay at home in the White House during their convalescence,” said White House physician Sean Conley.
According to the recommendations for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, people exposed to the virus should stay at home and quarantine for 14 days. The President and First Lady’s 14-day quarantine will end on October 15—the second presidential debate between Trump and the Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden.
