Kim Kardashian Reveals the Launch Of New Maternity Shapewear But Faces Controversy

Kim Kardashian ‘s latest line of shapewear is already turning controversial.

On Sunday, the 39-year-old “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” star, revealed Skims’ forthcoming line of maternity wear, promising;

The best in comfort and support for your evolving body during and after pregnancy.

Fans immediately questioned whether Kim should be encouraging compression shorts and smoothing materials for pregnant bodies.

Kim responded directly to the critics on her Instagram Story. She wrote;

To anyone who has an issue with maternity solutionwear, and if you haven’t been pregnant before you may not know the struggle of what it’s like carrying all of this weight the way I did along with millions of strong women.

“SKIMS maternity line is not to slim but to support. The belly part doesn’t slim your belly, it’s actually sheer and a thinner layered material compared to the rest of the garment. It provides support to help with the uncomfortable weight being carried in your stomach which affects your lower back — and the compression on the leggings helps with pain relief caused by swelling.”

Jameela Jamil — who has actively spoken out against the Kardashian family for promoting detox teas, Photoshopping photos and more — also chimed in. “It would be so cool if pregnant people could just be allowed to be pregnant and get bigger and not be self conscious, and enjoy the miracle taking place inside their body and not have to worry about feeling embarrassed/shamed that their body is changing for an amazing reason,” she tweeted.

Kardashian family friend Chrissy Teigen, who is currently pregnant with her third child, added her perspective in an Instagram Story while sporting the new maternity shorts and bra from Kim’s forthcoming line. Teigen discussed her own experiences of wearing shapewear and being pregnant, noting that she dislikes the way conventional underwear ‘rolls inside of folds’ of skin
